Frequently Asked Questions About Dentures

Why put dentures in water at night?
If dentures aren't kept moist when you aren't wearing them, they can dry out and lose their shape, which will affect the fit. Because of this, we recommend soaking them in water - preferably with a cleaning solution - overnight. It gives your gums a break from the pressure, and it's a good opportunity to remove bacteria from your dentures, too.
Can dentures be whitened?
Unlike natural teeth, dentures won't respond to a teeth whitening treatment. In fact, whitening can damage them. Use denture tablets, which are specially formulated to clean dentures, to help remove surface stains and keep them looking good. It's also a good idea to rinse your mouth with water after consuming staining substances like coffee or wine. Wearing dentures is yet another reason to stop smoking so you can avoid nicotine stains.
Can dentures fall out?
Traditional dentures that stay in place with dental adhesives will fit snugly and comfortably on top of your gums. Over time, however, they will need to be adjusted to maintain stability. To avoid this, we're able to secure your dentures to dental implants. You won't have to worry about your replacement teeth slipping or falling out when you eat or speak.
